Cuttack: Uncovering a shocking scene of filth and depravity, police rescued two minor girls from the clutches of their elder sister in Mahatab Nagar under Bidanasi police limits in the city last evening. They had been held captive in their home for last four years.

The accused woman has been identified as T Rajashree. She was living in her parental house after separation from husband.

A joint team of Cuttack Childline officials, members of a local voluntary organisation and Bidanasi Police rescued the victim minor girl duo identified as T Jayashree and T Karishma after conducting a raid on the house of the accused, following a tip off from some locals.

“We received a tip-off at around 3 PM that two minor girls have been held captive in their home by their elder sister. We immediately took the matter to the notice of the police and conducted a check. During our visit the minor duo were found terribly sick–one of them was found with bedsores and the other was found with mental illness. We rescued them and sent them to SCB Medical for treatment,” said Narayan Shukla, Coordinator, Cuttack Childline.

“The accused didn’t allow her siblings to move out of home following their parents’ death. She kept them locked up inside the house all the time. She might have done this with an intention to acquire parental property,” said Reena Pradhan, a neighbour of the family.

An investigation is underway in the incident.
