Nayagarh: In a major breakthrough, the district police on Sunday arrested an accused student who went absconding after an objectionable video featuring him and a college girl made rounds on social media recently. The accused has been identified as identified as Pabitra Nayak, a native of Sidhamula village.
Nayak, a Plus III second year student of a college in Kantilo area in the district had love affair with a Plus II first year student of the same college. Both of them had gone to the Gokulananda Tourism Centre in Sidhamula village on February 17 where the boy had filmed their private moments.
However, the video went viral on social media on March 8, when the whole world was celebrating the spirit of womanhood on International Women’s Day, following which the girl’s parents had lodged a police complaint with the Khandapada police. They had leveled rape allegation against Nayak.
The college authorities had also suspended both the students from the college.
Meanwhile, the accused has been sent to Khandapada Community Health Centre for medical test after which he will be forwarded to the court.
