Servitor shot dead in front of Jagannath Temple in Puri

Puri: In a development, the youth who was shot dead near the Emar Mutt in front of the Puri Shree Jagannath Temple was a servitor at the Loknath Temple.

The deceased servitor has been identified as Shivaram Patra of Taluchha Sahi.

Earlier on Tuesday night, two unidentified miscreants fired two rounds of bullets at Patra from a very close range and fled the spot before anyone could identify them. Patra died on the spot following the shootout.

While speaking about the crime, Puri SP said that the incident is the fallout of past enmity. Police have seized the gun used in the crime and detained a person for interrogation, identified as Chandan Barik, he added. Further investigation is underway.
