Separation surgery could risk Nayagarh conjoined twins Ganga-Jamuna’s lives

Cuttack: In what could worry Nayagarh conjoined twins Ganga-Jamuna’s parents and well-wishers, the treatment committee at Sishu Bhavan on Saturday informed that separation surgery could amount to risk towards their lives.

According to Sishu Bhavan Superintendent Saroj Satpathy, the operation of conjoined twins Ganga-Jamuna is not possible at present as there is no improvement in their health condition. The separation surgery could risk their lives, he added.

Born to Kishor and Sumitra Dutta of Sarankul village of Nayagarh district on December 1, the conjoined twins, who are now undergoing treatment at Sishu Bhavan in Cuttack, are reportedly sharing a single heart and liver. They are conjoined at the chest and abdomen.
