Separate road mishaps leave 1 dead, 2 critical in Odisha

Keonjhar/Balasore: At least one person was killed and two others sustained critical injuries in separate morning mishaps in Keonjhar and Balasore district today.

In the first instance, a pedestrian identified as Lochana Nayak was mowed down by an ambulance near Balijodi area in Keonjhar district while he was trying to cross a road. It is suspected that the Ambulance driver lost control over the wheels and ended up running over the victim.

Angry locals staged a road blockade at the accident site following the incident and demanded compensation for the next of kin of the deceased.

Police reached the spot and pacified the mob later to remove the road blockade.

Later in the morning in Balasore, at least two youths sustained critical injuries after the bike they were riding was hit by an unknown vehicle on NH-16 on Baruni Bridge.

The injured duo was immediately rushed to Balasore District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) by some locals, where they are currently under treatment.

Police have seized the mangled bike and are trying to trace the vehicle involved in the accident.
