Senior leader Pranay Sahu quits Congress

Bhubaneswar: In what could be dubbed as another blow to Odisha Congress, trying relentlessly to fix all intraparty disputes, senior leader Pranay Kumar Sahu quit the grand old party today.

Sahu tendered his resignation addressed to OPCC President Niranjan Patnaik along with a copy to Bargarh District Congress Committee (DCC) Satyabhushan Sahu without mentioning any reason therein this morning.

Later in his reaction to media Sahu said, Congress had been defeated in the Bijepur bypoll last year. I had then asked the party leadership to find out the real cause behind such poor performance which is yet to be responded. I decided to resign due to the discontentment arising out of this apathy, he added.

Notably, Sahu had contested the Bijepur Assembly by-poll held on February 24, last year. He had been defeated badly by getting just 10,274 votes, forefeiting his security deposit for not being able to poll 1/6th of the total votes.

It is still not clear which party Sahu will join next.
