Rayagada: In yet another shocking incident, a senior district official in Rayagada allegedly committed suicide on Sunday morning over high work stress.
The deceased has been identified as Shiv Prasad Panigrahi. He was working as an Assistant Collector in Rayagada district.
According to reports, Panigrahi took the drastic step as he was suffering from depression due to extreme work pressure. In a bid to end his life, he had consumed malaria tablets in the morning.
Panigrahi was declared dead by doctors at the District Headquarters Hospital who are suspecting that Chloroquine overdose has resulted in his death.
Meanwhile, his family has also alleged that he ended his life due to extreme work pressure.
While the exact cause behind the death is yet to be ascertained, the body has been sent for autopsy by the Police.
