Security forces exchange fire with Maoists in Kalahandi

Kalahandi: An exchange of fire took place between security forces and Maoists on Sunday during a combing operation at Sagada jungle of Kalahandi in Odisha.

Acting on a tip-off about the presence of Red Rebels in the jungle, the Special Operations Group (SOG) and District Voluntary Force (DVF) jawan police launched a search and combing operation in Kalahandi.

The Maoists opened fire at the security forces, following which the security forces retaliated.

According to sources, the police have recovered some camp articles from the spot  and managed to flee taking the benefit of dense jungle.

Till last reports came in, the exchange of fire was underway and the search operation is on. No casualties have been reported in the encounter.
