Security beefed up in Bhubaneswar ahead of Independence Day

Bhubaneswar: Security has been beefed up in the capital city of Odisha here ahead of the 72nd Independence Day on August 15.

Police DG Rajendra Prasad Sharma today took stock the security arrangements at the Mahatma Gandhi Marg here, where Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will unfurl the national flag during the state level Independence Day function on Wednesday.

As many as thirty platoons of police including150 senior police officers  have been deployed on the Mahatma Gandhi Marg on this occasion. The area around lower PMG square has been covered with high-definition CCTV cameras to keep a check on suspicious activities.

Traffic restrictions will be in place for the Independence Day function in vital locations in the city.

This year, a total of 39 troops will participate in the Independence Day parade. Odisha Police, Fire Services, NDRF, Red Cross, NCC, teams from Dare Devils and students from colleges and schools will take part in the parade.
