Sec 144 Imposed Around Lingaraj Temple In Bhubaneswar For Rukuna Rath Yatra

Bhubaneswar: The famous Rukuna Rath Yatra of Lord Lingaraj in Bhubaneswar is scheduled to be held today amidst Covid restrictions and without participation of devotees.

The Commissionerate Police has imposed Section 144 near the areas of Mausi Maa Temple from 12 pm to 7 pm today. Prohibitory orders of Section 144 shall also be imposed on April 24, said Police Commissioner.

The shops near the Lingaraj Temple shall remain closed from afternoon. The citizens shall not allowed to gather within 100 metres from the chariot.

No vehicle shall be allowed on Rath road from Mausi Maa Chhak. They will be diverted either towards Museum Chhak or Vivekananda Marg. Similarly, no vehicle shall be allowed on Rath road from Barik Sahi lane, Maharana Sahi lane, Gosagareswar Chhak, Sital Sasthi lane, Tinimundia Chhak, Harchandi lane, Muna medical lane and Punama gate lane or any other lane/ by-lane emerging at Rath road.

Only Covid negative sevayats shall be allowed to attend the festival. The people residing on the main roads shall not be allowed to view the chariot festival from their respective balconies/terraces.

CM Naveen has wished the people of Odisha and wrote “Heartiest greetings to all on the occasion of the holy Ashokastami of Lord Lingaraj. May the lives of all be filled with happiness and prosperity.”
