Schools to remain closed in Malkangiri on August 7

Malkangiri: The Malkangiri District Administration today declared closure of all schools in the district on August 7, Wednesday, due to the forecast of heavy rainfall in the region.

“As a preventive measure on the safety and security of the students, it is decided by the District Administration on the proposal of the District Education Officer, Malkangiri all the classes of all type of Day Scholar Schools including ST& SC Dev. Deptt./OAVS/All private schools shall remain suspended on Dtd. 07.08.2019 (Wednesday) to avoid any untoward situation,” read an official communication.

However, the classes for the Boarders of the residential schools of ST& SC Dev. Deptt/ All KGBVS and other Schools having hostel facility shall remain open as usual, it said.

All the teachers have been asked to remain present in their respective Headquarters for utilisation of their services as and when required by the District Administration.

The Met Department has forecast that heavy to heavy rainfall will likely to occur  in the district and other areas in the state.

Last week, the district witnessed heavy downpour. Vehicular movement was disrupted and several areas were cut off from the district headquarter after water level was rising over the river bridges connecting here.
