Schools, colleges in Odisha to remain closed due to trade unions’ strike


Bhubaneswar: All schools across Odisha will remain closed tomorrow in view of the two-day Bharat bandh call given by the trade unions. This was informed by the School and Mass Education Secretary Pradipta Mohapatra this evening.

Mohapatra said that the state government has decided to keep the school closed tomorrow to avoid any untoward incident during the nationwide badh. However, he said that decision regarding the closure of schools on Wednesday will be taken tomorrow.

All colleges and universities will also remain closed tomorrow in Odisha.

It is worthwhile to mention here that the central and local trade unions have called for a nationwide strike on Tuesday and Wednesday protesting the Union government’s anti-labour and divestment policies.

The strike is being supported by All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA)and Labour Progressive Federation (LPF) among others.
