School teacher stoned to death in Deogarh over fishing dispute

Deogarh: A school teacher was beaten to death following a dispute over fishing in Palunipada village under Riamala police limits in Deogarh district last night.

The deceased has been identified as Asutosh Patel (36), a resident of the same village and a teacher of Palunipada UP School.

The murder came to light after some locals spotted the deceased floating in the pond water with a stone on his head this morning. While his sandal was found floating nearby in the pond a towel containing fishes were also found lying at the bank of the pond.

As per the family members of Asutosh he had farmed fish in his pond and used to look after it every afternoon after returning from work. However, yesterday at around 6 pm he went to the pond and didn’t return home till late in the night.

It is suspected that the victim had an altercation with some miscreants over fishing who attacked him with a stone and killed on the spot, they added.

Reamal Police rushed to the spot and seized the body for autopsy to start an investigation into the murder.
