School bus fined Rs 2.33 lakh in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A school bus has been fined Rs 2.33 lakh at Damana square in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.

Reportedly, the school bus, bearing registration number OR 02 BN 4550, was fined Rs 2,33,234 on charges of flouting motor vehicle norms.  The vehicle which was seized as it had not paid MV tax for a long time.

The bus was also running without permit and did not have pollution as well as insurance certificates, added reports.

In addition, lakhs of rupees have been fined from school buses in Cuttack city today where as many as four teams are inspecting the vehicles.

Notably, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) launched an inspection on school buses across Odisha in a drive to ensure children safety while going to schools.

The special drive began from April 20 and will continue till 27 May. In this drive, the RTO department will check the school bus fitness certificate, permit, insurance and pollution certificate as well as licence of the driver.

The officials have also began to inspecting the auto, mini bus in which the children are being taken to schools.

The Regional Transport Office have instructed to submit the report on April 28 after a long- week inspection.
