Sarua Land Scam: Baijayant Panda, Jagi Mangat Will Not Be Arrested Till November 12

Cuttack: The Orissa High Court today ordered that BJP national vice-president Baijayant Panda and his wife and Managing Director of OTV Jagi Mangat Panda will not be arrested in Sarua land grabbing case till November 12, 2020. The Court’s ordered came while hearing their anticipatory bail plea.

Both Mangat and Jagi had knocked the door of the High Court seeking anticipatory bail in apprehension of their arrest in the case.

The court in a statement said, “It is directed that Jagi Mangat Panda and Baijayant Panda shall not be arrested in connection with EOW Bhubaneswar P.S. Case No. 08 of 2020 corresponding to T.R. Case No. 414 of 2020 pending before the learned Sessions Judge, Bhubaneswar till November 12, 2020.”

Both Mangat and Jagi are the major shareholders and promoters of Odisha Infratech Pvt Ltd, which is accused of fraudulently purchasing more than 7 acre of land that reportedly belonged to Scheduled Caste people in Sarua village in Khordha district.

In a related development, Manoranjan Sarangi, a director of the Odisha Infratech Pvt. Ltd., resigned from the post citing health issues and personal reasons. Sarangi also stepped down from the post of CFO, OTV. He has already been arrested by the Odisha Crime Branch.
