Sarpanch held in Boudh for impregnating, cheating Bhubaneswar girl

Bhubaneswar: The Twin City Commissionerate Police last night arrested a sarpanch from Boudh district for impregnating a Bhubaneswar woman on the pretext of marriage and then dumping her.

The accused has been identified as Antaryami Sahu, the Munipadar village sarpanch.

As per the allegation against Sahu, he maintained a relationship with the victim woman, a resident of Damana area in the capital city since 2013 and kept her in a rented house in Arabinda Nagar slum. Later, the woman conceived due to the relationship.

However, around six months ago Sahu married a 35-year-old woman junior engineer (JE) of Kantamal in Boudh without the knowledge of his lover which created trouble.

After coming to know that she has been cheated the previous lover of the accused sarpanch lodged a complaint at Chandrasekharpur Police Station a few days back, based on which the police arrested Sahu from his village last night.

The accused has been charged under Sections 376, 414, 313, 201, 341, 323, 294, 427, 506 and 34 of IPC and an investigation is underway into the allegation.
