Puri: Internationally acclaimed sand artist Manas Kumar Sahoo came down heavily on state government on Saturday alleging that he has been neglected by the state government despite working for the development of Odisha tourism for the last 22 years.

“I am being neglected in my own land even after promoting the state so much at national and international level. I have worked with the world’s best companies, but it is very unfortunate that the state government has showed step-motherly attitude towards me,” said Sahoo while expressing his discontentment.

The sand artist claimed that the state government neither invited him to participate in the annual International Sand Art Festival nor sought his views on the proposed sand art park to be set up in Puri adding that “A thank you letter from the state government would have made me happy and boosted me.”

Meanwhile, Sahoo has created a 12-feet sand sculpture titled ‘A Man in Race’ at Puri sea beach.
