Sonepur: The police on Wednesday busted a Sambalpuri Saree theft gang and arrested five persons, including a woman and four minors. The arrestees have been stealing expensive Sambalpuri Sarees from various shops, showrooms and even houses in various parts of Sonepur.
As per reports, the gang members impersonated as customers and visited shops to inquire about the prices of various expensive sarees. Later on, they used to steal the sarees from these shops by breaking the locks at night. They generally targeted small shops and establishments.
The Police has also seized as many as 70 expensive Sambalpuri Sarees worth over Rs. 3.50 lakh from their possession. Besides, a motorcycle, 41 mobile phones and mobile accessories worth around Rs 2.50 lakh has also been seized.
