Sambalpur: Jamankira LAMPS MD arrested by Vigilance for DA worth Rs. 1.53 cr

Sambalpur: The Managing Director of Jamankira LAMPS (Large Area Multi-Purpose Societies) in Sambalpur district was arrested by Odisha Vigilance today. He is being forwarded to the Court of Special Judge Vigilance, Sambalpur for possession of disproportionate assets worth Rs.1,53,01,430/-, which he could account for satisfactorily.

The accused has been identified as Fanindra Kumar Sahu.

In this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance P.S. Case No.43 dt.4.12.2021 has been registered against Sahu and his spouse U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act-2018.

On the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Sahu simultaneous house searches were conducted at 5 places yesterday by 5 teams of Odisha Vigilance led by 3 DSsP, 4 Inspectors, 4 ASIs and other staff on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Sambalpur.

After thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Fanindra Kumar Sahu were calculated and he was found in possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income to the tune of Rs.1, 53, 01,430/- (Rupees One Crore Fiftythree Lakh One Thousand Four Hundred Thirty) which constituted 270% of his known sources of income.

Investigation of the case is in progress.

Similarly, in another case, during simultaneous house searches launched on the properties of Jayant Kumar Das, Assistant Civil Supplies Officer, Nayagarh assets worth over Rs 2.31 crore unearthed.

On the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income, simultaneous house searches have been launched today on the properties of Das at 5 places.

During the house searches, 1 four storeyed building at Lenkudipada, Dist-Nayagarh, 2 nos of double storeyed buildings at Odagaon, Dist-Nayagarh, 9 nos of plots including 1 plot at Bhubaneswar and other 8 plots in Nayagarh district, 1 four wheeler, 3 nos of two wheelers, Bank and Postal deposits over Rs.9.30 Lakh, Insurance deposits over Rs.8.64 Lakh, gold and silver ornaments worth over Rs.4.92 Lakh, cash of Rs.2,74,075/- and other movable and immovable properties, all totalling to over Rs 2.31 Crore have been unearthed during the house search so far.

Further searches are continuing.
