Sambalpur: Cyber Police nabs Delhi based cybercriminal for online fraud of Rs. 26 lakh

Sambalpur: In a big achievement the cyber Police of Sambalpur in Odisha managed to nab a Delhi based cybercriminal in the matter of an online fraud of Rs. 26.5 lakhs. The cyber fraud had been done for supply of triple layer masks.

As per reports, after seeing an advertisement on Facebook, a businessman named Manoj Barad from Sambalpur contacted one Jatin Sehgal of Delhi on June 16, 2020 to supply triple layer masks. Accepting the order, Jatin asked him to pay money online. Accordingly, Manoj paid him Rs. 26 lakh 50 thousand in five instalments. However, he did not receive any material against this payments made.

After finding that he has fallen prey to cybercrime, Manoj lodged a complaint at the Sambalpur Cyber Police Station in this matter. Accordingly Police registered a case and initiated investigation. After 9 months, Police managed to nab the cybercriminal with the help of Delhi and Faridabad Police.

Police have seized Rs. 10 lakh cash, mobile phone, 10 SIM cards of different companies and ATM cards from the possession of the cybercriminal.
