Sambalpur: Sambalpur City in Western parts of Odisha celebrated the historic Sital Sasthi with enthusiasm and religious fervor marking the divine marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, as depicted in the Shiva Purana.
A conglomeration of thousands of artistes performed at the five-day-long cultural extravaganza, which was a low-key affair for the last two consecutive years due to the COVID pandemic. In the last two years, only the rituals of the festival were performed without the devotees.
Thousands of devotees took part in the festival and witnessed the weeding of the divine couple.
The district administration had deployed 40 platoon forces to maintain law and order during the celebration of the Sital Sasthi.
