Rural Labour Inspector in Vigilance net in Rourkela

Rourkela: Tightening the noose around the necks of corrupt officials in Sundergarh district, Rourkela Vigilance unit sleuths yesterday arrested Bonai Rural Labour Inspector Ashok Kumar Dungdung while accepting bribe from a labour leader.

As per the report, the anti-corruption bureau officials laid a trap to nab Dungdung yesterday after Sundergarh unorganised labour union secretary Dilip Lahiri brought an allegation of demanding Rs 3250 from him to issue labour card, against the former. The accused had demanded Rs 50 each from 65 labourers of Nuapalli village of Gurundia block to issue them labour cards.

A Vigilance team headed by Rourkela Vigilance DSP Dasarathi Sethi arrested the accused red-handed while accepting the bribe amount.

“The Vigilance team is conducting searches at the residences of Dungdung at different places in connection with the case and more facts will be revealed soon,” said Sethi to media.

However, on the other hand Dungdung has rubbished the allegation of demanding bribe and said the concerned labour leader was giving the money as per his own will.
