Balasore: In a daring broad daylight robbery, unidentified armed robbers looted Rs 60 lakh from an employee of Sergarh toll gate at Kuruda Chhak in Balasore district on Monday.
The miscreants waylaid Pradeep Yadav, the employee of the toll gate, while he was on his way by a car (OR-01S-6820) to deposit the cash in a bank. They fired two rounds of bullet at him and fled the spot with the cash. They also attacked the driver of the car and damaged the vehicle.
Yadav, who sustained bullet injury on his right shoulder, has been admitted at ICU of Balasore hospital and later shifted to SCB, Cuttack.
On being informed, Sadar Police rushed to the spot and started investigation into the matter.
“Involvement of some locals is suspected. However, we have detained driver of the car to question him. Efforts are on to trace the miscreants and arrest them,” said Dayanidhi Das, IIC of Sadar Police station.
