Rs 40 lakh looted in Odisha on the pretext of allotting petrol pump dealership

Dhenkanal: More than Rs 40 lakh was looted through cybercrime on the pretext of allotting petrol pump dealership in Dhenkanal of Odisha.

The miscreants opened a fake Gmail account and looted. However, all the three miscreants have been arrested from the Airport Police Station area in Patna, Bihar. At least Rs. 8 lakh 79 thousand has been seized from the culprits.

As per reports one Om Prakash Mishra of Dhenkanal had applied for dealership of Reliance petrol pump last year. He had applied for the dealership on the reliancepetroleum.org on November 1 last year. The next day he received a mail from care@reliancepetroleum.org.

Later a lady called him over phone posing herself as Akankhya Agrawal and asked her to deposit the registration fees. Accordingly, Mishra deposited first Rs. 29,500 and later Rs. 88,500. Later he was lured with a number of benefits by the said fake company.

Being lured by the benefits Om Prakash deposited Rs. 39, 27000 to the fake company in total for NOC, license fee, insurance amount, security deposit, etc. Someone posing himself as Manoj Chouhan kept in touch with him during all these transactions.

Later, on 29 December 2018, a mail was delivered to Mishra where it was mentioned that a team led by one Nitin Bijay will visit Dhenkanal to verify the site of the applied petrol pump. However, as nobody came for the verification Mishra suspected that he has been looted. Accordingly, he filed complaint with CID, Crime Branch and cybercrime cell about it.

After lodging of the complaint, the investigation started and the culprits were nabbed. They were arrested after digging into the Gmail account from where the mails had been sent.
