Road Safety Month Inaugurated Across Odisha Today

Bhubaneswar: Road Safety Month has been inaugurated across Odisha on Monday to create awareness about road safety and reduce road accidents in the state.

PSUs and insurance companies will also participate in awareness-creation activities with seminars, walkathons, poster-making competitions after the inaugural function for the campaign.

The Road safety awareness week was launched by Sambalpur Police near office of SP, Sambalpur. The road awareness vehicle was flagged off which will move across all PS jurisdictions of the district and spread awareness through appeals to public to observe Motor vehicle rules.

A bicycle parade was held in Puri today. It was inaugurated by District Magistrate Samarth Burma. A bicycle procession left the Gunticha temple and proceeded to the VIP Hall, through the Swargadwar, to the Town Hall.

In Bhubaneswar also the Road Safety Month inaugural program was attended by many dignitaries. They spoke on the importance of adhering to traffic rules and making the roads safe for all. The traffic wing of Bhubaneswar had made elaborate arrangements to mark the beginning of the awareness month.

The activities planned during the month include launch of a film on road safety, flagging off of a National Championship Safe Speed Challenge from Wagah border to Kanyakumari, and giving away of awards for road safety.

The event on the national basis will be launched by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Road Transport and Highways and MSME Minister Nitin Gadkari. NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant will also participate in the event.
