Bhubaneswar: Speaker of Odisha Assembly, Surjya Narayana Patro today administered oath to recently elected BJD MLA Rita Sahu.
Sahu registered a thumping victory in the Bijepur Assembly by-election in Odisha by defeating her nearest rival, BJP’s Sanat Kumar Gartia by a record margin of 97,949 votes.
Sahu, the wife of late Congress MLA Subal Sahu, was fisrt elected as the Bijepur MLA on a BJD ticket in February 2018 following the death of her husband in August 2017.
“The huge support of voters led to record victory and I will always be thankful to the voters. As a legislator I will definitely raise issues related to the problem and development of Bijepur in assembly,” said Sahu.
