Rickshaw puller contests for Sarpanch in Balasore district of Odisha

Balasore: Although generally rich and powerful people are seen contesting in elections some unusual things has been witnessed in Odisha.

For the upcoming 3 tier Panchayat Polls in Odisha, a rickshaw puller has joined the poll fray. He has contested for the post of Sarpanch for the Mandarpur panchayat in Remuna area of Baasore district in Odisha. He pedals his tri-cycle day in and day out to eke out a living.

Sanatan Nayak is a poor man. Earlier also, he had contested for Sarpanch, but could not win. Yet, his failure in the last poll could not deter him from trying his luck in polls once again.

Santatan is sixty years old, but he has much courage and patience. He is asking for vote to his neighbours, friends and supporters.

These days he is seen pedalling his cycle rickshaw for poll campaign. He is moving from house to house along with pushing cards asking for votes.

Interestingly, the man is quite hopeful of winning the poll by the support of people.
