Vigilance sleuths arrested a revenue inspector (RI) in Kandhamal district for allegedly accepting bribe on Wednesday.
As per the report, Sukadev Mallick of Badagan under Baliguda police limit had asked Tarini Parichia, the revenue inspector of Baliguda Tehsil in Kandhamal district to issue him an attested copy of the trace map for several times but in vain. Finally Parichha demanded a sum of Rs. 1000 (rupees one thousand) as bribe from him to get his work done. However, Sukadev lodged a complaint with the Vigilance in this matter.
Accordingly, as asked by the Vigilance sleuths Sukadev approached the RI on Wednesday and asked for the trace map. However, the Revenue Inspector demanded the bribe and gets arrested. Phulbani Vigilance division laid the trap and nabbed the officer red-handed while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1000 from Sukadev. The officials also seized the bribe money from his possession. Phulbani vigilance DSP Rabikanta Suna, Inspector P Chhatria and others constituted the team that carried out the nabbing.
