Renowned poet Rabi Singh to receive Atibadi Jagannath Das award-2017

Bhubaneswar: Renowned poet Rabi Singh will be conferred with the prestigious ‘Atibadi Jagannath Das Samman 2017’ by Odisha Sahitya Akademi for his illustrative contribution to Odia literature.
The decision has been taken in this regard at a meeting, under the chairmanship of Harihar Mishra, here on Friday. Mishra is the President of Odisha Sahitya Akademi.
The meeting also decided to felicitate 15 other litterateurs– Sanatan Mohanty, Rajat Kumar Kar, Bhupen Mohapatra, Nabakishore Prusty, Ramchandra Mohanty, Surendra Kumar Moharana, Trinath Sahu, Laxmidhar Jena, Banshidhar Rout, Panchanan Mishra, Anjali Panda, Nakula Chandra Sahu, Anil Chandra Das, Kumuda Chandra Das and Gobardhan Nayak– at the award ceremony to be conducted by the Odisha Sahitya Akademi.
Singh’s famous literary works include Patha Pranta Kabita, Charama Patra, Aprtitkara Kabita, Jhada, Kebala Sangrama, Rabi Singhnka Prema Kabita among others.
Atibadi Jagannath Das Samman, introduced by Odisha Sahitya Academy, was first presented to Odia poet Radha Mohan Gadnayak in 1993. It is awarded to an Odia language litterateur for his/her lifetime contribution to Odia literature.
The award is named after 15th century Odia poet Atibadi Jagannath Das who was also known as Atibadi (Greatest).
