Jharaphula’s father Ramakant has revealed that he had changed her number card and given his own number to the deceased student to use.

Ramakant informed that he changed Jharaphula’s phone number and given his SIM card after knowing about her love affair with Rakesh Swain, who is said to be the prime accused in the case.

As per Ramakant, the 21-year-old girl, who was studying in Bhubaneswar from class six, had gone to her home in Marundeipasi village under Jashipur police limits of Mayurbhanj district during the lockdown period.

During her stay in the village, Jharaphula fell in love with Rakesh, who is working as a plumber. They were in relationship for the last nine months, informed Ramakant.

The mystery still shrouds Jharaphula’s death continues even four days after she was found dead in Jajpur district.  Police are searching answers to different questions like what is the role of her boyfriend Rakesh behind her death, where is her mobile phone.

Police also already carried out a probe in the restaurant and guesthouse, where the duo had visited, to get some lead in the case. They also have reportedly collected some samples from these spots.

Cops also have launched a search operation to trace Sekhar, the friend of Rakesh and the two-wheeler on which Jharaphula’s body was carried.

Police have already applied to take Rakesh, who is in jail, on a five-day remand to interrogate him further. The court will conduct hearing in this regard tomorrow.

On the other hand, the postmortem report of Jharaphula’s body is yet to be out. This would reveal the real reason behind her mysterious death.

It is worthwhile to mention here that Jharaphula was found dead on the roadside in Jajpur on January 27.
