Chattisa Nijoga meeting on Rath Yatra 2023, schedule to be decided

A Chattisa Nijoga meeting will be held in Puri at 5 pm. The Jagannath Temple Chief Admin Ranjan Kumar Das will preside over the meeting.

Puri: Chattisa Nijog meeting will take place today in Puri to decide the schedule of the Rath Yatra 2023, said reports on Saturday. The said meeting will be held at Niladri Bhakti Bhawan in Puri at 5 pm. According to reports, the Jagannath Temple Chief Administrator Ranjan Kumar Das will preside over the meeting.

The schedule from Ekadasi to Niladribije will be finalized in the meeting. There will be discussions about policy-making along with security and discipline maintenance related issues. Care will be taken to ensure that no steps in the rituals of Lord Jagannath and his siblings will be delayed.

Similarly, there will be a discussion on the upcoming Sitala Shasti, Devasnana Purnima related policy making and rituals completion on time. The aim will be to make a clear and orderly policy decision regarding these matters.

The world famous rath yatra will be discussed in the meeting in detail. Construction of the chariot for the upcoming Rath Yatra is underway in full swing. The Maharanas, Bhois, Rupkars and other artisans are busy in the chariot making process, which takes a number of days to be completed.

Now the wheels (Chakas) and axles of three chariots have been completed and the construction of 14 Nahakas is underway. Furthermore, the meeting will also discuss the completion of the historic heritage corridor project around the Jagannath Temple. This project which is being carried out on the four sides of the temple is scheduled to be completed before the world-famous Rath Yatra, said reports.

The first preparatory meeting of the co-ordination committee for the annual Rath Yatra festivities in Puri was held on April 11, 2023. In the meeting were present the district officials, Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) and other officials of temple administration, including the sevayats.

It is noteworthy that, the annual Rath Yatra will take place on June 20, 2023 this year. The first phase of chariot wood arrived from Boudh Forest Department for the world-famous Puri Rath Yatra on April 8, 2023.
