‘Rasagola’ offerings for robbery in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: An intra-state gang of robbers reportedly performed ‘Rasagola’ offerings to the deities for looting in Odisha, informed the Commissionerate police on Thursday.

The special squad of the Commissionerate police arrested the accused persons and identified them as Raju, who hails from Nadia district in West Bengal, Deepak Biswas, Sankar De and Sonu, from the North 24 Parganas.

They were arrested while planning to loot a medicine store in Cuttack. Cops also recovered Rs 39,000 cash, 4 mobile phones, 2 voter IDs and an Aadhaar card from their possession.

The looters were living in a room at a lodge near Ashok Nagar area of Bhubaneswar and were involved in looting cash from several shops in the State Capital city. They also had looted several shops in the Ganjam district.

During the investigation, cops came to know that the prime accused Raju was working as a painter. However, Raju and three others used to watch videos on YouTube to learn skills for looting. They used to target mostly the medicine stores.

Interestingly, the accused performed ‘Rasagola’ offerings to the deities before and after looting.
