Rare common krait snake rescued by Police personnel in Odisha’s Soneupur: Watch

Sonepur: A police personnel turned Good Samaritan and rescued a rare snake that was injured and got entangled in a fishing net. The snake has been identified as a Common krait while the incident took place in Subarnapur district of Odisha on Wednesday.

As per reports, a common krait snake had got trapped in a fishing net spread in a pond of Shankara village in Subarnapur district on Wednesday. The net had been spread for fishing where the snake had been entangled.

After witnessing the trapped snake the locals tried to make it free but in vain and hence alerted Pramod Dasia, a Police constable who works in Subarnpur district.

Pramod reached the spot along with Snake helpline members and the snake was rescued after about one hour of tough rescue operation.

Following the rescue, Pramod observed that the snake had sustained grave injury. He took it to the Veterinarian in Soneupur for treatment. After treatment, the snake is fine now but it will take a few days to complete recovery. Hence, the cop has kept it safely at his home. He said that after the krait will completely recover, it will be released into the jungle to its natural habitat.

The cop has earned praise from different sections of people for his noble work towards the reptile.
