Ranji Trophy: Odisha beat Chhattisgarh by an innings and 3 runs

Raipur: Odisha defeated Chhattisgarh by an innings and 3 runs in a group stage match of Ranji Trophy at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium here on Wednesday.

On Monday, Odisha skipper Subhransu Senapati won the toss and opted to bowl first in the four-day match.

Chhattisgarh was bowled out for 134 runs in their first innings. Ajay Mandal, who came to bat at No 8, top-scored with 47 for the home team.

In reply, Odisha posted 215 runs on the board and secured a lead of 81 runs. Wicketkeeper batsman Sujit Lenka scored with 56 runs, while Surykanta Pradhan made 33 and Biplab Samntray 30.

In their second innings, Chhattisgarh were bundled out for 78 runs with Ashutosh Singh being the highest scorer with 43 runs.

Odisha’s Rajesh Mohanty, who took 10 wickets in the match, was adjudged as Player of the Match.
