Bhadrak: The district administration on Saturday imposed Section 144 in Bhadrak apprehending law and order situation during the upcoming Ram Navami celebrations.
Bhadrak Collector Gyana Das said that the prohibitory order under Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code has been imposed from 6 PM today to an indefinite period.
Besides, armed forces have been put in place to avoid any untoward incident during Ram Navami celebrations. Some of them also conducted flag-march in the town.
Notably, the district police had arrested more than 30 persons following a communal unrest during a Ram Navami procession on April 5, 2017. The communal violence erupted after a group of people posted offensive remarks on Hindu deities on Facebook.
Many houses and business establishments were also torched during the violence.
