Raja tragedy in Odisha: Boy drowns in pond in front of uncle

Khorda: A pall of gloom has descended on the family of a minor boy who drowned in the pond of Chhotraipur village near Nachuni in Odisha’s Khorda district on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Ayush Pattnaik from Berhampur. He was studying in Class X and was the only child of his parents.

As per the reports, Ayush had been to his maternal uncle’s place to celebrate Raja festival. Reportedly, Ayush with one of his brothers and maternal uncle Debi Prasad Pattnaik had gone to the pond in the village to take bath. Unfortunately, the two brothers started to drown.

However, their uncle, who was present on the spot could manage to rescue only one of his two nephews, while another went missing.

On getting the information, fire services personnel from Chilika immediately arrived at the spot and fished out body of Ayush from the pond water. He was then rushed to the Tangi Community Health Centre where the doctors pronounced him brought dead.
