Raja fest begins at PanthanivasBhubaneswar: The much-awaited Raja festival is here and like every year Odisha Tourism Development Corporation has planned a special ‘Raja festival’ at Panthanivas.

The three-day festivities, which started today, will showcase the rich culinary delights of Odisha. The food festival to mark ‘Raja Parba’, was inaugurated by Tourism Minister Ashok Panda in the presence of MP Prasanna Patasani and MLA Priyadarshi Mishra.

While ‘Poda Pitha’, a must eat item during Raja, is a hot favourite at the festival, there are several other varieties of Pithas including Aarisa, Manda Pitha, Kakara to choose from. Besides, adding to the delight of the denizens of Sambalpur, the food festival will also offer special cakes from western Odisha like Khuda Manda, Kadambari, Muga Papchi. ‘Raja paan’ will also feature in the menu.

The Tourism department has also planned cultural programmes in the evening hours, which will showcase the rich culture and heritage of the state.
