Rain,Thundershower with lightning alert to these districts in Odisha within next 3 hours

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre, Bhubaneswar on Saturday forecast light to moderate rain and thundershower in 11 districts of Odisha within the next three hours.

There will be light to moderate thundershower with lightning to affect some parts of Ganjam, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Boudh, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Jajpur Puri, Khurda (incuding Bhubaneswar), Cuttack (including Cuttack city) and Keonjhar districts within next three hours.

Hence, people are advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect from lightning strike.

According to the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, four districts including Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam districts have been issued yellow warning for today.

It is to be noted that Odisha’s twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar witnessed unseasonal rainfall on Friday. The normal lives of the residents of both Cuttack and Bhubaneswar were affected to some extent due to the rain.

Earlier on Friday, Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena had directed the district collectors to stay alert in view of the heavy rainfall warning issued by the weather department and take precautionary measures.

In his letter to the collectors of Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Puri, Nayagarh, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara districts to take steps regarding weather warning alert among the public regarding the heavy rainfall warning issued by India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The IMD said that a fresh Low Pressure area is likely to form over south Andaman Sea and the neighbourhood by November 13 and is likely to move west-northwestwards and concentrate into a Depression over east-central and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal on November 15.
