Rain to lash Odisha from tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: The city-based Regional Meteorological Department on Thursday predicted rain in several parts of the state from tomorrow under the impact of a low pressure system over the Bay of Bengal paving way for the onset of Southwest Monsoon in Odisha.

As per the official bulletin, a low pressure system is likely to be formed over the North Bay of Bengal in the next 48 hours which is likely to intensify into a depression and move towards West Bengal and Bangladesh coasts.

The rainfall is likely to continue for a period of three days from tomorrow.

Squally winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph is also expected to prevail over North Bay of Bengal along and off Odisha coast during June 9 and June 10.

The fishermen have been advised to be cautious while venturing into sea during the next 48 hours as the sea condition is also likely to remain rough. However, they have been warned not to venture into sea between June 9 and June 10.
