Rain predicted in Odisha due to western disturbance

Bhubaneswar: Amidst chilling winter in Odisha, the State may witness rain for the next two days due to western disturbance, predicted the Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar.

Reportedly, under influence of western disturbance, Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, and Bargarh districts are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall for the next 24 hours.

Similarly, there is also a possibility of rain in Nuapada, Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Nayagarh, Khordha, and parts of northern Odisha. The amount of rainfall may slightly increase today.

The strong Western Disturbance has entered the Western Himalayas, and induced a cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan’s western regions.

As for the mercury levels, the nighttime temperatures are likely to rise across East India while the daytime temperatures may dip by 2-3 degrees. By December 31, the rain will have stopped entirely, following which the minimum temperatures will begin to fall on January 1, 2022.

Shallow to moderate fog is also expected to blanket some places across Odisha.
