Rourkela: A railway employee died today after being run over by a speeding train at Bandhamunda Diesel Colony level crossing in Rourkela. The deceased has been identified as T Manoj Rao, the gateman of the level crossing.
Eyewitnesses said that Rao reached the railway crossing and slept on the track in the morning. A few minutes later the train passing through the tracks ran over him. Rao died on the spot.
Police have started an investigation to ascertain the reason behind Rao taking such an extreme step. “ The body has been sent for a postmortem and it will be handed over to the family members after the postmortem,” said a police official.
