Rail Traffic Halted As Container Rams Into Railway Track

Sambalpur: Rail traffic was affected between Sambalpur and Hirakud railway stations after a container truck rammed into the railway track along the Sambalpur-Burla road. The container was coming from Kolkata in West Bengal and travelling to Nagpur in Maharashtra.

As per reports, the driver of the truck lost control when the vehicle was overtaken by an SUV from the right side. After this, the heavy truck rammed into the railway track near Laxmidunguri area.

No train was running on the track when the mishap took place. However, the truck disrupted train movement along the Howrah-Mumbai line, passing through Sambalpur and Jharsuguda. Several trains, including the Titlagarh-Howrah Ispat Express, were stranded at Hirakud Railway Station due to the mishap.

After learning about the accident, Railway authorities reached the spot and cleared the track, after which rail traffic was restored on the route.
