Balangir: Rail service has been badly affected at Saintala Railway Station here today following a ‘rail roko’ staged by Saintala Bikash Parishad and citizen forum members demanding stoppage of Puri-Durg Intercity Express.
Commuters faced a tough time due to the ‘rail roko’ which started at around 6 am in the morning and angry protesters sat on the railway tracks and resorted to sloganeering against the railway department’s apathy towards their legitimate demand.
Later, members of Saintala Bikash Parishad intercepted Puri-Gandhidham Express for hours due to which all other trains which were scheduled to pass through the route was either diverted or cancelled.
The agitators have warned to intensify their stir in the coming days if railway department fails to fulfil their demand at its earliest.
