‘Rail roko’ agitation disrupts train movement in Odisha

Balangir: Train service has been disrupted after locals staged ‘Rail roko’ agitation at Deogaon railway station in Balangir district in Odisha on Friday demanding halting of express trains at the station.

Kolkata-bound Ispat Express and a goods train have been stranded at the station due to the protest that began at 6 AM.

Hundreds of protesters were seen blocking railway tracks at the station to press their demand.

Veteran Congress man and Leader of Opposition in State Assembly Narasingha Mishra and BJD heavyweight AU Singh Deo also participated in the agitation called by the Village Development Committee and Traders’ union of Deogaon.

Adequate police personnel have been deployed at the spot to maintain law and order situation during the agitation.
