Berhampur: Protesting the raid and closure of three medicine stores on the premises of MKCG Medical College and Hospital here, chemists across Ganjam district on Friday called for a district wide bandh of all medicine shops on January 13.

The Utkal Chemists and Druggists Association (UCDA) has asked the chemists in the district to shut down their shops tomorrow.

The association alleged that the district administration sealed the medicine shops without any reason and prior information. They claimed that the relatives of patients are finding it difficult to get medicines as all the medicines are not available under the Niramaya Yojana.

A delegate of the association met the district collector today to discuss over the matter.

Notably, a team including an Additional Tehsildar and Drugs Inspector had conducted raids on three medicine shops situated on the premises of the hospital. They had examined medicine stocks and documents in the shops. Later, the inspection team sealed the medicine stores alleging irregularities in their stock records.   .
