Puri : SJTA issues notice to 34 servitors on ritual delay in Srimandir on Dec 28

Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has issued show cause notice to as many as 34 servitors in connection with the delay in the performance of rituals in Srimandir here on December 28, 2018.

The temple administration has directed the concerned servitors to submit their reply within seven days in which circumstances the rituals were delayed. The servitors will face action if they fail to submit the replies within the stipulated period, the administration sources informed.

On December 28, the rituals of deities of the 12th century shrine were delayed after a cease work agitation by a group of Bhitarachha servitors over alleged police assault on one of their co-workers.

The servitors did not open the doors of the sanctum sanctorum protesting the alleged police assault over entry of two persons into the temple. Consequently, the rituals delayed for 14 hours and Mahaprasad could not be prepared on that day.

The December 28 incident had triggered widespread outcry among the devotees across the state and outside.
