Puri residents to be allowed into Srimandira through 2 gates

Puri: The residents of Puri will be allowed to enter Srimandira through two gates of the famous Lord Jagannath temple from November 1. It was decided in a meeting of the Srimandira administration today.

As per reports, huge crowd gather daily in front of Singhadwara of Srimandira as all the devotees including the locals and tourists are allowed through this main gate of the temple. However, since many residents of Puri visit the shrine on daily basis and they need to stand in the long queue in front of the Sighadwara, the residents of Puri will be allowed to use two gates of the temple to enter the shrine. They can either enter through the main gate or the Paschima dwara. The facility will begin from November 1. However, the devotees need to fulfil a few conditions. They need to exhibit their Aadhar Card as well as Double dose Covid vaccination report to be allowed into the shrine.

This was a long demand while many organisations had intimated the administration about it. Some of them had given memorandum to the District Collector and Srimandira Administrator.

In the meeting today discussion also went on about the dress code of the servitors. It has been learnt that the servitors and temple staff likely to visit the shrine in dress code after Diwali. In the next meeting, the colour of the dress code will be finalised.
