Puri : Lakhs of devotees are expected to congregate here on Monday to witness ‘Suna Besha’ or ‘Golden Attire’ of the three deities — Lord Jagannath, his elder brother Lord Balabhadra and their sister Devi Subhadra on their respective chariots.

During the Suna Besha rituals, the three deities will be adorned with gold ornaments on their three majestic wooden chariots – Nandighosa, Taladhwaja and Debadalana- placed at Singhdwar of Srimandir after their annual nine-day sojourn to Sri Gundicha Temple.

Devotees will be allowed to get glimpses of Suna Besha between 5 PM to 11 PM, informed Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) sources.

Earlier on the morning, several rituals like Mangala Alati, Abakasha and Mailama-Tadapa Lagi were performed at the chariots. Other major rituals of deities – Gopalaballav, Madhayna Dhoopa and Sandhya Alati will be performed before the Suna Besha.

As many as 110 platoons of police personnel were deployed for the hassle-free darshan of the deities, sources said.

The deities would finally re-enter the 12th century shrine and again be placed on the ‘Ratna Simhasana’, the bejewelled throne, following a ceremony called ‘Neeladribije’ tomorrow.
