Puri: The accused of the Puri minor girl rape case has been arrested, informed the district police in a Twitter post on Wednesday.
According to reports, the accused identified as Mahesh Mohanty has been apprehended by cops. He had absconded after raping the five-year-old girl under the Puri Town Police limits on Sunday.
Cops had launched an investigation based on the complaint filed by her family members. The Town Police had formed four teams to trace and nab Mohanty. Besides, a lookout notice was issued against him.

Meanwhile, the victim is undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. She was shifted from Puri District Headquarters Hospital after her health condition deteriorated.
Further investigation is underway, said Puri Police.
Sources said that Mohanty will be forwarded to the court following a medical test.
