Puri: The Odisha Vigilance on Friday apprehended the Assistant Revenue Inspector (ARI) of Chupuringi RI Office under Kanasa Tahasil in Puri while demanding and accepting a bribe.
The Assistant Block Education Officer has been identified as Ranjan Kumar Mallick.
Acting on a tip-off, the Odisha anti-corruption team laid a trap against Ranjan while demanding and accepting cash of Rs.10,000/- from a Complainant of Puri district for submitting a favourable report regarding eligibility of the complainant for cyclone damage relief.
The entire bribe money Rs 10,000/- has been recovered and seized from the exclusive possession of accused Mallick.
A case has been registered in this connection with Cuttack Vigilance under section 7 of The Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Further investigation is underway against Mallick.
